Securitas Group Switzerland receives 120 guests in the Swiss Pavilion Shanghai
In addition to responsibility for security systems and services, Securitas Group Switzerland also assumes the role of host in Shanghai. Enthusiastic clients accepted our invitation on 21 June and enjoyed VIP hospitality in the Swiss Pavilion.
The Swiss Pavilion in Shanghai is an important platform for Securitas Group to present itself to a wide public and in particular to professional circles in China.
One aspect of our partnership with the Swiss national appearance here occupies centre stage, for Securitas Group’s commitment emphasises a Swiss attribute known around the world: Security.
In addition to permanent deployment for Expo visitors, Securitas Group offers exclusive special events in the Swiss Pavilion on 21 June and 24 August. At the first event, 120 current and potential clients as well as influential guests from the local media enjoyed eventful and charming Swissness and engaged in shop talk.
Many visitors have already announced their participation at the second event on 24 August. They are looking forward to fascinating Swiss impressions, information on leading security technology and will, of course, also profit from Easy Access to the Swiss Pavilion's attraction: An exciting ride on the chair lift!
The secure interface between Expo, the public and the Swiss pavilion
In the Swiss pavilion a small multinational Securitas team, with the technical support of Securiton Systems, ensures secure interaction between hosts, visitors, technical staff and local emergency response teams. The popularity of the Swiss pavilion and the great visitor numbers in Shanghai together mean that fulfilling the expectations of guests is a challenge. Visitor support personnel in the Swiss pavilion, chairlift technicians, chefs and the security team do everything they can to meet this challenge.
The Securitas team, under Swiss management, ensures controlled conditions, and is capable of intervening if necessary. The thousands of visitors each day seeking to experience the pavilion and the chairlift provide special challenges. Waiting times of several hours test people’s sense of fair play, and in some individual cases even result in medical problems. The Securitas employees are there to intervene if they sense problems developing in the queue, or if people require emergency assistance. These tasks are performed in close cooperation with medical personnel and police.
The chairlift in the Swiss pavilion – the ultimate attraction – takes passengers up a circular shaft, around a loop on the roof, before returning them to the start. The entire trip on the lift is video monitored. The images from the Securiton-cam are sent to a monitor which is checked by a Securitas employee, who in turn watches for passengers behaving inappropriately, and for landscapers or technicians at work. In the case of disruptions or incidents, an alarm is triggered and counter-measures are implemented.
In addition, Securitas employees ensure that the correct number of persons get on the chairlift prior to boarding. In addition to monitoring tasks, the range of services provided in the Swiss pavilion also comprises visitor services: When patrolling the pavilion, the uniformed Securitas personnel often answer questions or provide information on exhibition topics.

The Swiss appearance in Shanghai is an ideal platform for the Securitas Group to present itself to the Chinese public as well as to the experts. On the one hand, because all its security activities are embedded in Swissness and the Swiss Pavilion represents a distinctive testimony to its Swiss origins. On the other hand, due to the proximity of the Chinese market, whose pulse is perceptible in the country’s largest industrial city in the Yangtze delta.
More Switzerland than ever in China
The Swiss Pavilion at the world expo paints an authentic and modern picture of Switzerland taking into account the growing tourist interest of the Chinese public. The Swiss Pavilion creates worlds of experience and provides impressions of a modern, attractive and innovative Switzerland.
So much Switzerland has rarely been experienced in China as in the Yangtze delta this summer. Moreover, Switzerland’s appearance in close connection with the Securitas Group underscores an important attribute of Switzerland in the world’s eyes – security.
The Swiss Pavilion, an exiting image
While the Swiss Pavilion in Shanghai presents a compact spatial and topical view of Switzerland, the Securitas Group’s activities within show a compressed image of the security enterprise’s strengths. Based on comprehensive risk assessment the Securitas Group has developed the fundamental security concept for the operation of the Swiss Pavilion. In order to meet the ensuing security objectives Securiton has provided and realized all the technical systems and installations from the video surveillance, to the control system and the operations center. Securitas has planned the security services and with Swiss management and local staff will ensure comprehensive security for the operators and guests of the Swiss Pavilion.
Numerous guests from China and all over the world will visit Shanghai 2010 in the summer; the Swiss Pavilion and the Securitas Group are ready – for sure.
