Prisoner Transport

Since January 2001, inter-cantonal prisoner transport in Switzerland has been conducted according to a uniform, combined system. The KKJPD (Conference of Cantonal Justice and Police Directors) as the client together with the contractors Swiss Rail and Securitas implement this concept which takes particular account of human dignity as well as logistics and economic aspects. Services based on security and supervision provide support for police and penal institutions.

To ensure that prisoners travel safely from A to B:

• Collection and delivery of prisoners always takes place within secure areas of police stations or prisons
• Escort and supervision of prisoners during transport by rail or road by specially trained Securitas employees
• Continuous monitoring of all vehicles on duty by the Securitas pan-Swiss control centre in Zurich

In addition to prisoner transport, Securitas provides a wide range of public authority services for various cantons and for the federal government in the areas of asylum, judicial and local community matters.
